EVNews is a service provided by .
EVNews provides two levels of news:
- This website will be regularly updated with news items of particular interest to evangelicals, especially those in the Church of England, the Anglican Communion or other episcopal churches.
- An e-mail will be sent out on a regular basis but only very rarely will this amount to more than two messages a day.
EVNews was originally established as a broadcast mailing list when many evangelicals wishing to keep up with e-mail news were being swamped by the sheer volume of messages floating about. We aimed to provide a filter and digest facility together with our own news and comment for members of Church Society and others.
Church Society upholds the supreme and final authority of God's Word written and the conviction that we are justified by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. The Society is unashamedly reformed, in that we uphold the doctrines of grace particularly as set out in the Thirty Nine Articles of Religion and given expression in the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. We are also unashamedly catholic, believing that the protestant reformation sought to reform not revolutionise the Church. Believing from the teaching of the Lord that the Bible is the very Word of God we uphold that it is both infallible and inerrant and see this conviction as fundamental to genuine evanglicalism. Furthermore, on those issues of controversy in the modern day church such as the ministry of women, sexual practice, the nature of the atonement and so on, we believe that the Bible is plain and for all time, not conditioned by culture.
In selecting news stories, in providing links and in our own comment on issues these convictions are to the forefront. We are not attempting to be unbiased, but to be true, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to our Saviour Christ, and to the revealed will of God.
